Final Fantasy XIV - Alpha / βeta Comparison video

Today we have a video that shows the difference between the Alpha and βeta builds of FFXIV.  In the video you'll notice that the βeta version has better lighting and greater distance texture blending, plus distance bluring has been added to give the feeling of how far away features in the distance are.

You'll also see a the speed difference between the Alpha & βeta fights.  I'm sure you'll all like the improvements made, and I have taken a couple of screen shots has well as posted the video here.

The screen shot above shows the improved lighting in the βeta version.

The screen shot above shows the greater textures in the βeta version.

The two screen shots above show the distance bluring that has been added to the βeta version.

Bit of a late E3 demo update

Well its a little bit late now, but better late then never eh!
I found this video of the guy checking out the player creation section, fighting mobs and not jumping. You'll see what I mean!

Tuesday 22 June 2010

Uh oh, that monster looks a bit too hard!

Todays video shows a player taking on two mobs that are well out of his league and the result is death!

Party Play.

Here's a video today of some party play in FFXIV. The group are taking on a very strong beast, but you'll see that by watching the video and looking just how many members are in the group fighting.

Opps! Missed one!

I missed the Live report 3 that Square-Enix posted on youtube.  You can see that here:

Download the Final Fantasy XIV Bench test right now!

Download this right now:

Its the offical bench mark program for Final Fantasy XIV.  Its lowest setting is 720p (1280x720) and it's highest is 1080p (1980x1080).  The program will run  a character of your choice through the opening moments of the game.  All the graphics are in real time and run very smooth on my machine (spec you can see in the last puicture) at 720p.  The file is 172mb to download and unzips to 335mb.
I have not run it in 1080p yet as the Sony E3 press conference is about to start and I don't have the time to post this and run it again before it starts!

Pre-E3 pictures start to arive

I'm trying to forget the utterly awful England performance from Saturday, this has been made easier with the thought that this week is E3 week and we are going to get some more FFXIV news for sure.
In fact these pictures have come through before the show has started properly.

After seeing these pictures I'm sure that Square-Enix are going to show a lot of this game and the next few days are going to be very interesting indeed.

A message to American readers today.

Today England are going to destroy, sorry, play against the U.S.A in the World Cup and I thought I would give my American readers a nice message.

E3 2010 is go!

According to the games that are to be shown at next weeks E3 show, Final Fantasy XIV is on the list.  So next week expect official videos and screens shots to come pouring out from Los Angeles.

Did I do this already? I forget!

OK because I am not too sure just which videos from my HDD I have already posted, I might repeat myself by accident.  I know I have a few I have not posted so I'll try my best to get it right.

Also while I am here, the forums are very active at the moment and users of this blog are invited to join the forum and get involved in the upcoming FFXIV linkshell (guild) that I will be creating via this site.

Quest for rock!

Ok, I'll try to re-upload all the videos overnight so I'm not hogging all the banwidth tonight, but for now I have a quick video for you to check out.  I'm trying not to use movie maker, so I won't be plastering my blog address over it and maybe it wont have as big borders.

We'll see!

Friday 4 June 2010

Uh oh spaghettios!

Looks like my youtube account is suspended, so I am going to have to use Veoh or something to upload videos.  So today I am going to post some nice screen shots instead!

Thursday 3 June 2010

Where did that video go?

As there are new people coming here now I thought it would be a good idea to post a reminder about the blog media vault which you can find here:
http://myffxivjourney.freeforums.org/blog-media-vault-f7.html
from this area you can find every video and screen shot that has been posted on this blog in one easy place.

I'm sure I have seen you somewhere before!

Two videos now, Video one is one I forgot to upload a while back it seems (I thought I had done it!) Where our old friend "RiKo Delorian" is on an escort quest.

Then we see the same quest from the point of view of a character called "Ban Me Please", who is clearing using the file swap trick (just like all the people in these videos) to really take the piss.

I said this in the last post but I thought I would bring it to the top again, we are starting the organise a linkshell for FFXIV and everyone who uses this site is invited, check out the FFXIV section in the forums to check that out.

Also thanks again for everyones continued support for clicking on the adverts, it helps a lot, thanks!

Also we are starting the organise a linkshell for FFXIV and everyone who uses this site is invited, check out the FFXIV section in the forums to check that out.
